A PATTERN 1827 RIFLE BRIGADE OFFICER'S LEVEE SWORD, circa late 19th Century, with 32 3/4 in nickel steel blade, the top half of which is fullered and etched on each side, ricasso with brass proved plug to one side and 'ALEX. ROSS / & Co. / HENRIETTA St / COVENT GRDN / LONDON' over, gothic steel hilt with queen's crown and slung bugle cypher, fish-skin grip bound with copper wire, together with an associated nickel steel scabbard with two suspension rings, blade with some staining, shallow pitting to grip back-strap, scabbard appears too big for the blade, has losses to nickel and rust patches increasing towards the chape, 39 1/2 in. overall
